DFB-Pokal Final 2027: Berlin, Saturday 29 May

Germany's cup final returns to the Olympiastadion in Berlin on Saturday 29 May 2027, as it has every year since 1985. The stadium holds around 74,000. The two finalists will only be known after the semi-finals, and the DFB has yet to confirm the kick-off time and ticket prices.

DFB-Pokal final 2027: what is fixed and what is not

  • Date: Saturday 29 May 2027.
  • Venue: Olympiastadion, Berlin, capacity around 74,000.
  • Kick-off: the final traditionally starts at 20:00 local time, but the DFB has not yet confirmed it for 2027.
  • Finalists: to be confirmed after the semi-finals.
  • Prices: to be confirmed.

The date is a week after the last Bundesliga matchday (Saturday 22 May 2027), so the final is the closing act of the German domestic season. It also comes three days after the Europa League final in Frankfurt on 26 May, which makes late May an unusually busy fortnight for football in Germany.

A DFB-Pokal final with a permanent address

Most national cups move their final around or use whichever national stadium suits. Germany settled the question in 1985, when Berlin became the fixed host, and the Olympiastadion has staged every final since. For German supporters the phrase "we're going to Berlin" has become shorthand for reaching the final, and you will hear it chanted from the early rounds onwards.

That stability helps visitors from abroad. You can study the stadium, the transport and the city well in advance, without waiting to see where the final will be. The only unknown is which two sets of supporters will fill the two ends.

The early rounds have their own charm: amateur and lower-league clubs are drawn at home against professional sides, which regularly produces upsets and packed small grounds. It is worth following the draw even if you only plan to go to the final.

How DFB-Pokal final tickets reach supporters

The two finalists receive the largest share of the tickets, and each sells its allocation to its own members and season-ticket holders, often with priority for those who attended earlier rounds. The DFB keeps a separate contingent, part of which has in past seasons been offered to the public through an application phase on its official ticket portal, followed by a random draw when demand exceeds supply. Whether and when that phase runs in 2027 is to be confirmed.

What to do now:

  1. If you support a club still in the competition, make sure your membership is active and your details are up to date.
  2. Create an account on the DFB's official ticket portal so you are ready if a public phase opens.
  3. Activate our alert to hear when application windows open and close.

Application windows for neutral fans tend to be short, and the gap between the semi-finals and the final leaves little room for hesitation.

DFB-Pokal resale and personalised tickets

Cup final tickets in Germany are normally personalised, and the DFB and clubs offer their own official resale or name-change options when circumstances change. Tickets bought through unofficial channels may be cancelled if they breach the terms of sale.

Third-party resale platforms will list the final, often before anyone knows who is playing. Those early listings are promises, not tickets. If you consider buying second-hand, check whether the seller can actually transfer the name on the ticket, what guarantee the platform offers and whether the price is realistic. The official route remains the one that guarantees entry.

Planning a trip to Berlin for the DFB-Pokal

The Olympiastadion is in the west of the city, in Charlottenburg, and is well served by public transport: S-Bahn trains to Olympiastadion station and U-Bahn line U2 to Olympia-Stadion both drop you within walking distance. On final day, expect heavy crowds on both lines and plan to arrive early.

  • From elsewhere in Germany: Deutsche Bahn adds capacity on final weekend, but long-distance trains sell out; book as soon as your club is through.
  • From the UK and Ireland: Berlin Brandenburg Airport has direct links from several UK and Irish airports; the airport train reaches the centre in about half an hour.
  • From North America: fly into Berlin via a European hub, or into Frankfurt and combine the trip with the Europa League final.

Berlin hotels fill on final weekend because both sets of supporters arrive at once. Rooms that can be cancelled free of charge are the sensible choice while the finalists are unknown.

The DFB-Pokal and the other cup finals of spring 2027

If you want to compare formats, Spain's Copa del Rey final in Seville is on 24 April and Italy's Coppa Italia final in Rome on 19 May. In England, the FA Cup final at Wembley is the traditional end-of-season showpiece. Our Football 2027 calendar brings all of them together with the European finals and summer tournaments.
