NFL Munich 2027: the honest picture at the Allianz Arena

Why there is no NFL Munich game in 2027

Plenty of websites list Munich among the 2027 International Series venues. They are mixing up seasons. The multi-year partnership between the NFL, the City of Munich and FC Bayern names two years: 2026 and 2028. Germany has been split between two cities on an alternating basis, and 2027 is Berlin's turn, with further Berlin games planned for 2029.

So the realistic Munich calendar looks like this: one game still to come this autumn, then nothing in 2027, then a return in 2028 whose date and teams are not yet known. If you were hoping to combine a Bavarian trip with American football next year, the answer for 2027 is Berlin's Olympiastadion, and our NFL Europe 2027 overview tracks every other city on the continent.

Every NFL game played in Munich so far

Munich staged Germany's first regular-season NFL game in 2022 and has been one of the most reliable sell-outs on the international calendar ever since. The NFL says Germany has more than 20 million fans, its largest base in Europe.

This November's game is the Lions' Munich debut as the designated home team, and the US broadcast is on FOX.

Getting to the Allianz Arena for NFL Munich

The stadium sits in Fröttmaning on the northern edge of the city. The NFL calls it the FC Bayern Munich Stadium on its own materials; locals and football fans know it as the Allianz Arena. Its football capacity is 75,024, while the NFL configuration has drawn just over 70,000.

• U-Bahn U6 to Fröttmaning: the standard route, followed by roughly 15 minutes on foot along the Esplanade to the stadium.
• U6 to Kieferngarten: one stop earlier and around 20 minutes' walk, often quieter after the final whistle when Fröttmaning is packed.

Allow more time than for a Bundesliga match: security checks and merchandise queues build up well before kickoff.

How tickets work for NFL games in Munich and Germany

There is no box office route. The official seller for German games is Ticketmaster, and you need a free NFL Ticketmaster account created through the NFL's international site before you can buy. In 2026 the Munich sale ran in three stages:

1. American Express presale from 28 May to 3 June.
2. Official hospitality packages from 4 June.
3. General public sale on 10 July at midday.

Prices have been shown all-in, with fees included, since the 2026 season, and tickets are delivered to your phone shortly before the game. Treat that sequence as a template only: for 2028 nothing has been published, and the NFL usually names its host cities around Super Bowl week and its matchups in May.

Some fans will try resale. Mobile tickets are tied to accounts, listings on unofficial sites can be cancelled or duplicated, and you have little protection if entry fails. The NFL's own channel or its official resale option is the safe choice. If you want a nudge when the next Munich window opens, switch on our alert.

What to do in 2027 instead of NFL Munich

If Munich is off the table, you still have options. Berlin is the only German city with a confirmed 2027 game, although the date and teams will not be known until the 2027 schedule is unveiled. Frankfurt hosted two games in 2023 but has nothing announced; see our Frankfurt page for the details. London remains the busiest NFL destination outside the United States, with Tottenham contracted for at least two games a season, which you can follow on our London guide.

Remember the season timing: international games are played between September and November. Nothing will be staged abroad in 2027 before September, and the full fixture list typically arrives in mid-May. Planning an NFL trip to Munich from the UK, Ireland or North America

For British and Irish fans, Munich is a short flight and a different experience from London: a German crowd wearing jerseys from all 32 teams, beer halls doing a roaring trade on the eve of the game and, in mid-November, properly cold evenings. Pack layers for the walk to and from the U-Bahn.

American and Canadian visitors tend to build a week around the game. Book hotels early once a date is published, because game weekends fill the city, and check whether trade fairs coincide. Keep plans flexible until the NFL confirms the kickoff time; this year's game starts at 15:30 local time.

A word on independence: this is an independent guide, not affiliated with the NFL, its clubs or FC Bayern. We only report what has been announced and flag everything else as to be confirmed.
