NFL International Series 2027: where the league plays abroad next

The NFL has approved up to 10 league-managed international games for the 2027 season, the most ever. Berlin, Mexico City and London are already committed through existing contracts; every other city is still to be confirmed. No international game will be played before September 2027, and matchups normally arrive with the schedule in May.

The 2027 International Series framework in one minute

On 19 May 2026 NFL owners voted to allow up to 10 league-managed international games in 2027, up from a previous maximum of eight, with room for an extra Jacksonville Jaguars game at Wembley. The same meeting ended clubs' right to shield their home games from being moved overseas.

The rhythm should stay familiar. Host cities have usually been unveiled around Super Bowl week (Paris and Madrid were confirmed on 2-3 February 2026), opponents follow in May, and tickets go on sale between late May and July. Roger Goodell has spoken of an eventual target of 16 international games, which depends on the collective bargaining agreement with the players' union.

Japan and Italy are the names to watch beyond that list. Italy joined the Global Markets Program in 2026, with the Saints and Browns holding marketing rights, and the league has mentioned Japan among its target markets, but no city, stadium or year has been named. NFL executive Peter O'Reilly has suggested Asia is more likely beyond 2027.

The International Series cities with contracts behind them

London is the backbone: 43 regular-season games since the Giants beat the Dolphins at Wembley in 2007. The Jaguars' 2027 Wembley date is tied to the rebuild of their Florida stadium. Berlin debuted on 9 November 2025, when the Colts beat the Falcons 31-25 in overtime before 72,207 at the Olympiastadion; Germany now alternates, Munich in even years and Berlin in odd ones. Mexico City hosted the first regular-season game played outside the United States in 2005 and returns on 22 November 2026, ahead of the 2027 game guaranteed by the current deal.

International games still to play in 2026

The 2026 season set a record: nine games, seven countries, eight stadiums and four continents, with first-ever games in Melbourne, Rio and Paris. Three are done, including a sell-out of 100,021 at the MCG and a 56-yard field goal at the buzzer that gave Baltimore a 34-31 win over Dallas at the Maracanã. Six remain:

  • 11 October: Philadelphia Eagles at Jacksonville Jaguars, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
  • 18 October: Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars, Wembley
  • 25 October: Pittsburgh Steelers at New Orleans Saints, Stade de France
  • 8 November: Cincinnati Bengals at Atlanta Falcons, Santiago Bernabéu
  • 15 November: New England Patriots at Detroit Lions, Munich
  • 22 November: Minnesota Vikings at San Francisco 49ers, Estadio Banorte

How NFL International Series 2027 tickets are sold

In Europe the official route is Ticketmaster, via a free NFL Ticketmaster account created at nfl.com/international/ticketaccount, compulsory for European games in 2026. Each announced city also gets an interest registration page on nfl.com. The 2026 pattern: American Express presale in late May or early June, hospitality in early June, general sale in July. Prices are shown all-in since 2026, London capped sales at six tickets per account per game, and mobile tickets arrived up to 72 hours before kick-off. Australia, Brazil and Mexico use their local Ticketmaster. Resale sites exist, but account-linked mobile tickets can fail to transfer, so check the official rules first.

Planning a trip around an NFL international game

Set things up before any 2027 news lands: create the NFL Ticketmaster account now and use the same email for every city. If you are flying in from the US, book refundable hotels once cities are named, then flights after May, when date and opponent are public. UK fans have two London venues on the doorstep, plus short hops to Berlin, Madrid or Dublin if they return.

NFL International Series — frequently asked questions

How many NFL international games will there be in 2027?

Up to 10 games managed by the league, approved on 19 May 2026, plus a possible extra Jaguars game at Wembley. The exact number and list are to be confirmed.

Which cities are confirmed for 2027?

London, Berlin and Mexico City, through existing contracts. Dates, stadium slots and opponents are still to be confirmed. Munich is scheduled for 2028, not 2027.

When will the 2027 international matchups be announced?

Based on recent years, host cities tend to be named around Super Bowl week in February and matchups in May with the full schedule. Neither date is official for 2027.

Will there be an NFL game abroad before September 2027?

No. International regular-season games are played between September and November, so the 2027 games will fall in that window.

Is a game in Japan or Italy planned?

Not announced. Both are named as future markets, but no city, stadium or year is confirmed, and Asia looks more likely after 2027.
