NFL in CanadaNFL Toronto 2027: the Bills Toronto Series and what comes next
No NFL game has been announced in Toronto, or anywhere in Canada, for 2027. The city's regular-season history is the Bills Toronto Series: six Buffalo Bills home games at the Rogers Centre between 2008 and 2013, before the club's new owners formally ended the series on 3 December 2014.
Toronto's 2027 NFL status
The short version for Canadian fans: there is nothing scheduled. The NFL has approved up to ten league-managed international games for 2027, and clubs can no longer shield their home games from relocation, but the commitments made so far point to Berlin, Mexico City and London. Canada is not on the list, and no Toronto venue has been linked to a future game.
The league usually names host cities around Super Bowl week in February and confirms matchups with the schedule in mid-May. If Toronto were to return for the 2027 season, that is when you would hear about it. Our International Series 2027 hub follows every confirmed and possible venue.
The NFL's Bills Toronto Series, game by game
The series came out of a deal between the Bills and Rogers Communications: one regular-season game a year in Toronto, plus preseason games. Buffalo, as the designated home team, went 1-5.
| Date | Game | Result |
|---|---|---|
| 7 Dec 2008 | Dolphins at Bills | Dolphins 16-3 (52,134) |
| 3 Dec 2009 | Jets at Bills | Jets 19-13 (51,567) |
| 7 Nov 2010 | Bears at Bills | Bears 22-19 (50,746) |
| 30 Oct 2011 | Washington at Bills | Bills 23-0 (51,579) |
| 16 Dec 2012 | Seahawks at Bills | Seahawks 50-17 (40,770) |
| 1 Dec 2013 | Falcons at Bills | Falcons 34-31, overtime (38,969) |
The only win came against Washington in 2011, a shutout. Crowds drifted downwards over the years, from more than 52,000 for the opener to under 39,000 for the final game. The Rogers Centre also hosted Bills preseason games, including one against Pittsburgh in August 2008 and one against Indianapolis in August 2010.
Why the NFL's Toronto series ended
The arrangement ran for six seasons. A 2014 game was postponed, and on 3 December 2014 the Bills' new owners, the Pegula family, officially brought the series to a close. The Bills still hold NFL marketing rights in Canada under the league's Global Markets Program, which lets clubs build their fan base in specific international territories, but that is about promotion, not games.
The Rogers Centre, Toronto's former NFL venue, today
The stadium, which opened as the SkyDome, sits next to the CN Tower downtown. In NFL configuration it held about 53,500. Since 2021, though, it has had a permanent baseball layout, which makes it less suited to American football than it was during the Bills years. Any future NFL game in Toronto would therefore raise venue questions, and no venue has been named.
- Union Station: served by TTC Line 1, GO Transit and the UP Express from Pearson Airport, then about ten minutes on foot via the Skywalk.
- Streetcars 509 and 510: along Queens Quay and Spadina.
NFL Toronto tickets if the league returns
There is no ticketing to explain for 2027 because there is no game. For context, international games today are sold through the NFL's official channels: the league opens a registration page for each host city and sends sale links to those who sign up, with Ticketmaster handling the sale. Prices are quoted all-in, and tickets are mobile. Any Canadian game would follow whatever process the league announces, so treat every detail as to be confirmed.
Steer clear of anyone offering Toronto NFL tickets for 2027. Without an announced game, there is nothing genuine to buy. If you want to know the moment that changes, sign up for our alert.
Beyond Toronto: where Canadian fans can watch the NFL in 2027
- A road trip south: the closest option for most Ontarians is a regular-season game in the United States, sold through the clubs and Ticketmaster once the 2027 schedule is out in May.
- Mexico City: the Estadio Banorte has a deal covering 2026, 2027 and 2028. See our Mexico City guide.
- London: the busiest NFL city outside the United States, with Tottenham contracted for at least two games a season. Details on our London page.
- Super Bowl LXI: 14 February 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, covered on our Super Bowl guide.
