Super Bowl 2027: the key facts so far

NFL owners awarded the game to SoFi Stadium at their league meeting in December 2023, so the venue has been locked in for years. What changes every season is everything else: who plays, what tickets cost and who performs at halftime. Here is where things stand in October 2026.

• Date: Sunday 14 February 2027, which happens to be Valentine's Day.
• Venue: SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, in the Los Angeles area, with roughly 70,000 seats in its standard set-up.
• Kick-off: to be confirmed. The game traditionally starts around 6:30pm Eastern, which is 3:30pm in Los Angeles and late at night in the UK and Europe, but the league has not published the 2027 time.
• Halftime show: to be confirmed. No headliner has been announced.
• Teams: decided by the AFC and NFC Championship games at the end of January 2027.
• TV in the US: ESPN and ABC, with streaming on Disney+ and a Spanish-language broadcast on Univision. It is the first Super Bowl ESPN has ever carried.

SoFi Stadium and its Super Bowl history

This will not be SoFi's first Super Bowl. The stadium hosted Super Bowl LVI in February 2022, when the Los Angeles Rams beat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 on their home field. Super Bowl LXI will be the ninth staged in the Los Angeles area, a region that has been part of the game's story since the very beginning.

The building itself is unusual: a translucent roof covers the bowl, so the climate is never really a factor, and a huge double-sided video board hangs over the field. Inglewood sits a few minutes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which is handy for visitors flying in from London, Paris or the East Coast. Expect heavy traffic and strict security perimeters on game day, and plan to arrive hours before kick-off.

How Super Bowl tickets are actually sold

Unlike a football cup final, the Super Bowl has no big public ballot open to fans worldwide. Tickets flow through a handful of channels, and most of them are closed to ordinary buyers:

• The two finalists receive the largest shares, historically around 17.5% each. Clubs usually distribute these among their season-ticket holders, often by an internal draw.
• The other 30 teams, the host club and the league take smaller allocations for sponsors, partners and staff.
• NFL On Location, the league's official hospitality partner, sells ticket-and-hospitality packages. Its Priority Access deposit programme for Super Bowl LXI is currently open and is, at this stage, the only official way to secure a seat in advance.
• NFL Ticket Exchange by Ticketmaster is the league's official resale platform. Its opening date for Super Bowl LXI is to be confirmed.

What Super Bowl LX cost: a reference, not a forecast

Prices for the 2027 game have not been published. The best guide is the previous edition: for Super Bowl LX at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on 8 February 2026, reported face values ranged from about $950 to $8,500. On the secondary market, prices moved sharply: the average resale ticket was reported at a little over $8,100 on game day, after dipping to around $3,500 at the end of January.

Treat these numbers as last year's reference only. Resale prices for LXI will depend heavily on which teams qualify, how far their fans have to travel and how quickly they sell out. Two big fan bases within driving distance would push prices up; two smaller markets on the far side of the country could do the opposite.

Buying Super Bowl tickets safely through resale

Several resale platforms will list Super Bowl LXI seats long before the finalists are known. Some of those listings are speculative: the seller does not yet hold the ticket and promises to deliver later. Before you pay, check a few things.

• Is the seat a real, identified section and row, or a vague zone?
• Are fees, taxes and delivery included in the final price shown?
• What happens if the ticket is not delivered, or the event changes?
• Will you receive a mobile ticket that can be transferred to your own account?

The road to Super Bowl LXI in Inglewood: playoff timetable

The 2026 regular season runs over 18 weeks, with 17 games per team, and is expected to finish around 10 January 2027 (to be confirmed). The playoff dates below are the usual slots reported ahead of time and are still to be confirmed by the league:

• Wild Card weekend: 16-18 January 2027
• Divisional round: 23-24 January 2027
• Conference championships: 31 January 2027
• Pro Bowl Games: 10 February 2027, venue to be confirmed
• Super Bowl LXI: 14 February 2027

That leaves exactly two weeks between the conference finals and the big game, which is when most fans of the qualified teams scramble for flights and hotels. Planning a Super Bowl trip from the UK or Europe

If you are travelling from Britain or mainland Europe, book flexible flights and refundable rooms early: Los Angeles is busy in mid-February and hotel prices near Inglewood, Santa Monica and downtown climb steeply once the finalists are known. Check whether you need a US travel authorisation well in advance. Remember that a February kick-off in the late afternoon in California means the game will end around midnight or later in Paris and London, which matters if you are simply planning a watch party at home.
